Minimum Daily Package

touThe minimum daily package covers the following services.

A minimum of 3 star accommodation (4 & 5 star may require an additional premium).

All meals.

A licensed Bhutanese tour guide for the extent of your stay.

All internal transport (excluding internal flights).

Camping equipment and haulage for trekking tours.

It also includes:

  • All internal taxes and charges
  • A sustainable tourism Royalty of $65. This Royalty goes towards free education, free
    healthcare, poverty alleviation, along with the building of infrastructure.

The minimum daily package for tourists travelling in a group of 3 persons or more is as follows:
USD $200 per person per night for the months of January, February, June, July, August, and December.
USD $250 per person per night for the months of March, April, May, September, October, and November.
These rates are applicable per tourist per night halt in Bhutan.
On the day of departure, the ‘local agents’ host obligation shall be limited to providing breakfast only and any extra requirements shall be payable on usage basis.
The list of hotels and lodges approved to provide accommodations all listed on this website. If you accommodation is not listed on this website then it is not licensed cater for international tourists.
The Royal Government of Bhutan sets minimum selling prices for packages to Bhutan. These must be paid in US dollars prior to arrival in Bhutan.

Tariff & Payment Procedure

The minimum daily tariff for tourists visiting in a group of four people or more is US$200 per day.
The payment includes all of your accommodation, food, land transport within Bhutan, services of guides and porters, supply of pack animals on treks, and cultural programs as appropriate.

Surcharges

Individual tourists and couples are subject to a surcharge, over and above the daily rate. The surcharge may also be applied if a member of a group arrives or departs on a separate flight from the rest of the party. The surcharge is US$40 per night for one person, and US$30 per night per person for a group of two people. Visitors qualifying for any kind of discount still have to pay this small-group surcharge.

Discounts and Specials

The following categories of visitors are eligible for discounts on the daily rate:
Children: Children Up to the age of five, children are free of Government part of fees. You just have to pay their actual expenses such as food, bed if any. Kids from six to 12 accompanied by parents or guardians receive a 50% discount on the daily rates.
Diplomats: 25% discount on the rates applies to diplomats from foreign embassies or missions accredited to Bhutan.
Group Leaders: A discount of 50% on the rates is given to one person in a group of 11 to 15 people. A free trip is allowed for one member per group exceeding 15 people.
Students: Full-time students 25 years and younger with valid identity cards from their academic insituations are allowed a 25% discount, resulting in a rate of US$150 per night (plus small group surcharges, if applicable).
Travel by air

Today, Bhutan’s national air carrier, Druk Air, operates several flights per week from Bangkok, Delhi, Kolkata And Kathmandu to Paro. The modern Airbus A-319 jets carry passengers through one of the most spectacular flight paths in the world. A particular highlight is the stretch between Kathmandu und Bhutan, where one passes 4 of the 5 highest mountains in the world. Weather permitting; passengers will be treated to intimate views of Mt. Everest, Lhotse, Makalu und Kangchenjunga. Landing in the Paro Valley, surrounded by 4000 meter high mountains stretching across the west of Bhutan, means a visual landing is the order of the day.
