An expedition designed for those interested in a rich biodiversity and adventure that brings you close to some of the worlds most endangered and rare species. In the itinerary, you explore the oldest wildlife sanctuary in the country, the Royal Manas National Park that shares a boundry with India. The park is home to Asian Elephants, Royal Bengal Tiger, Golden Langurs, Hornbills, Asiatic Wild Buffalos and species of the Mahseer.

Day 1: Gelephu

AM/PM: Arrive at Gelephu Border Gate from Gauwahati Airport. After immigration formalities, check-into hotel

GAU Airport - Gelephu: 237km (6hrs)

Day 2: Tingtibi

Highlights

 

AM: Drive to Tingtibi, bird watching on route
PM: Lunch,Tingtibi Bird Festival

Gelephu - Tingtibi: 115km (5hrs)

Day 3: Panbang

Highlights

 

AM: Early morning walk for birders, drive to Panbang, Check in, lunch
PM:Bicycling tour/walk through nature trail, bonfire, local cultural folk songs & dance

Tingtibi - Panbang: 85km (4hrs)

Day 4: Panbang

Highlights

 

AM: White water River Rafting, visit Royal Manas National Park
PM: Fishing (catch and release) in the Manas river to see some species of the Mahseer.

Day 5: Trongsa

Highlights

 

AM: Drive to Trongsa, Twin Waterfall enroute, Lunch
PM: Visit Trongsa Dzong (ancient trade center), Taa Dzong (watchtower) Museum

Punakha - Trongsa: 137km (3.45hrs)

Day 6: Phobjikha

Highlights

 

AM: Start drive before dawn for a chance to spot wild animals (deers, tigers & takin often seen on this stretch), Breakfast at Willing Cafe/on route
PM: Check into hotel, Gangtey Monastery, Nature trail walk & birding

Trongsa - Phobjikha: 82.6km (2.5hrs)

Day 7: Punakha

AM:Drive to Punakha, Wangduephodrang Dzong, Chimmi Lhakhang, Checkinto hotel, lunch
PM: Punakha Dzong, Longest suspension bridge, local village community visit

Phobjikha - Punakha: 80km (2.5hrs)

Day 8: Thimphu

AM: Drive to Thimphu, Dochula Pass (3,100m), Kuenselphodrang (largest statue of Buddha), check into hotel, lunch
PM: Takin Zoo, Traditional Arts & Craft school, National Library, Craft bazaar, Tashichhodzong

Day 9: Paro
