PLANT A HIMALAYAN CYPRESS TREE SAPLING

The evergreen Himalayan cypress is the national tree of Bhutan and a symbolic tree associated with religion. It is often found near religious structures around Bhutan and signifies endurance and longevity for its ability to survive in rugged terrain. In Buddhist ceremonies, small cuttings of cypress branches are used in smoke offerings known as Sang, which has the meaning of purified, cleanse, and awaken. In Middle eastern and European cultures, the cypress is believed to be a symbol of transition between life and death and the uplifting of the human spirit.

Impact quantified: symbolic evergreen memory for a loved one + offset your carbon emission of your flight to Bhutan.

STOP SINGLE USE PLASTIC

Contribute to cleaner environments by reducing plastic waste. You can participate by simply “Saying No” to single use plastic! You may also buy our travel eco-bundle. Our Eco- Bundle Contains:
- Reusable tumbler Souvenir
- Reusable canvas shopping bag Souvenir
- Eco-friendly loofah body scrub
- Local organic soap bar
- Bamboo toothbrush
- Reusable straws

Impact Quantified: If every individual in a small group of 10 avoids buying bottled water daily, that’s minimum 20 plastic bottles of reduced waste daily considering each individual intakes at least 2 bottles of water. This grows exponentially if all our travelers participate.

10 PIECES OF PLASTIC

We all want the world to be a cleaner & safer place and picking up plastic litter daily during your travel is the most simple and effective way to leave a positive impact on the environment and communities you visit.

Impact Quantified: If every individual in a small group of 10 picks 10 pieces of litter every day, that’s 100 pieces of plastic litter removed every day! This grows exponentially and reduces hazards to wildlife and prevents contamination of water.

USE AN ELECTRIC VEHICLE FOR TRANSPORTATION

Electric vehicles produce zero tailpipe emissions, which helps reduce air pollution and combat climate change, contributing to sustainable goals and environmental and social well-being.

Impact Quantified: Save overall cost by 40%. On an average of 600km distance travelled by vehicle, you would offset approximately 130kg of carbon emissions.

People & Communities

STAY LOCAL, EAT LOCAL, EXPERIENCE LOCAL

Bhutan has several beautiful homestays where local families welcome guests into their home for a small fee and let you experience the daily lives of Bhutanese people and eat authentic Bhutanese cuisine. If this is of interest to you, please let us know! If you prefer the comfort of a hotel bed and bath, we can still take you for a day trip to a local village and experience their daily life & enjoy hot home cooked meals with them. For this, you pay them directly.

INSPIRE

Bhutan being a developing country is always in need of education in every aspect. If you are an expert in any subject, just let us know and we can arrange a lecture and a question and answer session for an audience, be it a school, community, diplomats, or young entrepreneurs. Sharing knowledge is one of the most fundamental acts of friendship and a way for you to leave a positive-impact.
